If you, a loved one or someone you know wants to be free from an addiction to drugs or alcohol, then Sancta Maria House is there for you. Located in a beautiful area of Vancouver, British Columbia we offer a structured, supportive program for up to nine women, in a pleasant loving family-like setting.
Our goal is to provide you with loving support, direction and encouragement as you journey to achieving freedom from addictions.
Women must be at least 19 years of age, have a substance abuse addiction, be able to make a commitment of 6 months, have a TB Test, and be able to medically, physically, and emotionally participate in all program activities and expectations. The ability to make financial arrangements for the program fee is also required.
Potentially addictive medications such as opiates, benzodiazepines and barbiturates are not allowed.
“I was an addict without hope or spiritual life before I came to live at Sancta Maria House. I had nothing! As soon as I entered the door, I felt I was in the right place”. - Marcia
Program Commitments
The home provides the 12-step program, A/A meetings, daily recovery groups, life skills, weekly one-on-one sessions, counselling, and assessment interviews. In addition, the home receives support within the community through resources such as Coastal Health and other professional resources to help women in need of further medical and psychiatric attention.
Women must commit to at least six months with an open-ended stay and many women stay well over one year. The home also indirectly acts as a second-stage recovery home that focuses on retraining and rehabilitation for alumni and in-house clients.
Women with paranoid thoughts and other fixed delusions, auditory, visual, or kinaesthetic hallucinations, suicidal ideation or other thought disturbances which seem out of the person's control and not accessible to efforts to change indicate that Sancta Maria House would not be a suitable location to meet this person's particular needs.
